About Trimbakeshwar Shiva Temple

Sacred Jyotirlinga uniquely featuring a three-faced lingam embodying Brahma, Vishnu, and Maheshwar, near the sacred origin of river Godavari.

Temple Lore & History

Built by Peshwa Balaji Baji Rao (Nana Saheb) in the 18th century using basalt black stone, Trimbakeshwar has immense Vedic significance. Sage Gautama performed penance here, and the sacred river Godavari (Gautami Ganga) descended upon earth at this consecrated site.

Spiritual Significance

Trimbakeshwar is the paramount shrine for mitigating ancestral karmas, Pitra Dosha, and Kaal Sarp Dosha. Because all three supreme deities reside together in the lingam, rituals performed here grant triple divine grace.

Devotee Visitor Guide

Devotees should wear traditional attire. Special Abhishek rituals take place in the morning hours between 6:00 AM and 11:30 AM.
